Tholu Bommalata is the shadow puppet theatre tradition of the state of Andhra Pradesh. Animal skin is used to create the various characters in this folk story telling form. In the recent years the craft of making these shadow puppets has lent itself to home accents too in order to keep the skill alive.
Our attempt to reinterpret the traditional toy craft of Channapatna translates into these one-of-a-kind statement lighting. The hexagonal shaped leather shade is in the more monochromatic colours unlike its usually colour counterparts. Paired with our best-selling south indian lamp inspired Villakku lamp base, they also make great bedside table lamps especially in pairs. The fittings are of export quality. Please note that these lamp shades are hard to contruct on leather by hand and hence rustic. Please do no expect a machine made symmetrical precision on these shades.
Please note that you can select any combination of shade and lamp base from amongst all our designs. They are all available as sets and separates too.
